Alteration to previous building block blanket

Free Building Block No Sew Crochet Blanket Pattern (alteration to previous pattern instead of working left or right we will be building up in length not width unless you want the Building Blocks to be long ways going up which would still be cool your blanket your way of doing it to make it look how you want it to :-) have fun! And comment how it worked for you thanks!)

Materials: Redhart yarn (or yarn of your choice) and how ever many colors you desire with this one I'm using three colors instead of five like with my past ones)

Hook your yarn calls for or the hook that makes your work not curl (since there really isn't any gauge in this and we just go by what looks good roll with whatever works)

Scissors of course lol and darning needle to weave in ends as you go so the job gets done and doesn't become and overwhelming task.

I hope I make sense and you enjoy this pattern, of course I won't know unless people comment my post, you can now log in with google and comment so please do comment and let me know how things turned out for you, so I can make things better and more understandable for future users of my pattern that was yes altered from another pattern I found online but my son who pointed out that the 3x2 Building blocks are the less common Building Block and the 4x2 was more common so I had to alter it to make him happy. anyway I get overwhelmed easy and making blocks to sew together at a later date just isn't something I can do. So I really altered and feel I made the pattern mine by attaching as I build the blanket instead ofsewing  the blocks together later. But idk if I can claim it or not so it's free. Plus I don't believe patterns should cost money because not everyone crochets like the pattern owner, so patterns don't always turn out exactly like the owners version and that just makes the customer feel gyped and that's not right IMHO. Ok on to the pattern!

This is me crocheting it at normal speed http://youtu.be/w3NDPiTgt8k but it starts part way through the sc across the chain part...but its how fast I crochet at normal speed...I am trying to help you all understand this best I can I hope this visual helps you to know how to go about building this blanket. Pointer ignore the chains they don't count as nothing.

 Row 1: ch 20 turn sc in 2nd ch from hook and sc across (19 sc)

Row 2: ch 2 dc in 1st sc space and dc across (19 dc) 

Row 3: ch 2 hdc in 1st dc and next 2 dc (3 hdc) cluster stitch: yo put hook in next dc space yo pull through as if to do dc, yo pull through 2 loops leaving 2 loops on hook yo and repeat until you have 6 loops on the hook, yo and pull through all 6 loops then hdc in next dc to secure cluster stitch hdc 2 more times (3 hdc) repeat cluster and row in this fashion ending with 3 hdc.

Row 4-5: ch 2 dc across (19 dc)

Row 6: repeat cluster row 

Row 7: ch 2 dc across (19 dc)

Row 8: ch 1 sc across (19 sc) fasten off weave in ends. Done with first building block.

Now comes the fun part the buildings up without having to look forward to or dread the task of sewing each block together later.

Attached yarn color next in line to make pattern to your hook and here we go.

Row 1: attach yarn with sl st on any corner of the previously made block. Ch 1 sc in same sp attached yarn and across top of the block (19 sc)

Row 2: ch 2 dc in 1st sc space and dc across (19 dc) 

Row 3: ch 2 hdc in 1st dc and next 2 dc (3 hdc) cluster stitch: yo put hook in next dc space yo pull through as if to do dc, yo pull through 2 loops leaving 2 loops on hook yo and repeat until you have 6 loops on the hook, yo and pull through all 6 loops then hdc in next dc to secure cluster stitch hdc 2 more times (3 hdc) repeat cluster and row in this fashion ending with 3 hdc.

Row 4-5: ch 2 dc across (19 dc)

Row 6: repeat cluster row 

Row 7: ch 2 dc across (19 dc)

Row 8: ch 1 sc across (19 sc) fasten off weave in ends. 

And repeat this until desired length or width whichever your preference to have the Building blocks lay out.

Now to get all complicated and stuff.

Attatch yarn with sl st at bottom corner of the wide enough or long enough strip of Building Blocks just made.

Row 1: ch 20 turn sc in 2nd ch from hook and sc across (19 sc) sl st in ch on block from first column of Building blocks 

Row 2: ch 2 sl st top of ch on block from first column of Building blocks, dc in 1st sc space and dc across (19 dc) 

Row 3: ch 2 hdc in 1st dc and next 2 dc (3 hdc) cluster stitch: yo put hook in next dc space yo pull through as if to do dc, yo pull through 2 loops leaving 2 loops on hook yo and repeat until you have 6 loops on the hook, yo and pull through all 6 loops then hdc in next dc to secure cluster stitch hdc 2 more times (3 hdc) repeat cluster and row in this fashion ending with 3 hdc. sl st in ch on block from first column of Building Blocks

Row 4-5: ch 2 sl st in ch on block from first column of Building blocks dc across (19 dc)

Row 6: repeat cluster row sl st in ch on block from first column of Building Blocks

Row 7: ch 2 sl st in ch on block from first column of Building Blocks dc across (19 dc)

Row 8: ch 1 sc across sl st in ch on block from first column of Building blocks (19 sc) fasten off weave in ends.

Build up column in same fashion as the previous column only sl st in ch on block from first column of Building blocks as you go along. Build it as wide and tall as you need. And good luck!

Showing the four blocks I did so far they were shown how in my YouTube but it cut off the first part of the video...my laptop is probably down for the count...but still trying to scan it...but those instructional videos are deleted from my phone to make room for my sons birthday party pictures and videos...so I will re do it later when I have time and a laptop to get my videos off my phone so I can upload them to youtube to help you visualize this method better. Here is the finished Building block blanket: :-)

Hope you can see it well. It's on a twin bed to give you an idea how big this many blocks is compared to a twin bed. Have fun with designs and the lay out make it yours...my next one will be a baby blanket for my baby to be about 3'x3' probably be more rectangle though but we shall see...may end up doing a 2 bump by 2 bump and make it square more lol...anyway I will update with pictures when I get it done...next is black bomb bird from angry birds hat for my son...then a camo sweater for my son so far that's the game plan for projects...baby won't be here until April...anyway got some time...ttyl!
