No Sew Crochet, 4 Bump, Building Block For A Baby Blanket Pattern

Free Building Block No Sew Crochet Blanket Pattern :-) have fun! And comment how it worked for you thanks!

Materials:
*Redhart yarn (or yarn of your choice) and how ever many colors you desire with this one I'm using three colors instead of five like with my past ones)
*Hook your yarn calls for or the hook that makes your work not curl (since there really isn't any gauge in this and we just go by what looks good roll with whatever works)
*Scissors of course lol and darning needle to weave in ends as you go so the job gets done and doesn't become and overwhelming task.

I hope I make sense and you enjoy this pattern, of course I won't know unless people comment my post, you can now log in with google and comment so please do comment and let me know how things turned out for you, so I can make things better and more understandable for future users of my pattern that was yes altered from another pattern I found online but my son who pointed out that the 3x2 Building blocks are the less common Building Block and the 4x2 and 2x2 was more common so I had to alter it to make him happy. Here is the Building Block pattern I got the idea from: http://www.allfreecrochet.com/Crochet-Afghan-Patterns/Lego-Block# found it by watching this YouTube video http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=j7OIxoLHOMU

Anyway I get overwhelmed easy and making blocks to sew together at a later date just isn't something I can do. So I really altered and feel I made the pattern mine by attaching as I build the blanket instead of sewing  the blocks together later. But idk if I can claim it or not so it's free. Plus I don't believe patterns should cost money because not everyone crochets like the pattern owner, so patterns don't always turn out exactly like the owners version and that just makes the customer feel gypped and that's not right IMHO. OK on to the pattern!

Pointer ignore the chains they don't count as nothing.

Row 1: ch 12 turn sc in 2nd ch from hook and sc across (11 sc)
Row 2: ch 2 dc in 1st sc space and dc across (11 dc)
Row 3: ch 2 hdc in 1st dc and next 2 dc (3 hdc) cluster stitch: yo put hook in next dc space yo pull through as if to do dc, yo pull through 2 loops leaving 2 loops on hook yo and repeat until you have 6 loops on the hook, yo and pull through all 6 loops then hdc in next dc to secure cluster stitch hdc 2 more times (3 hdc) repeat cluster stitch ending with 3 hdc.
Row 4-5: ch 2 dc across (11 dc)
Row 6: repeat cluster row
Row 7: ch 2 dc across (11 dc)
Row 8: ch 1 sc across (11 sc) fasten off weave in ends. Done with first building block.

Now comes the fun part the buildings up without having to look forward to or dread the task of sewing each block together later.

Attached yarn color next in line to make pattern to your hook and here we go. Working on the top of the block.

Row 1: attach yarn with sl st on any corner of the previously made block. Ch 1 sc in same sp attached yarn and across top of the block (11 sc)
Row 2: ch 2 dc in 1st sc space and dc across (11 dc)
Row 3: ch 2 hdc in 1st dc and next 2 dc (3 hdc) cluster stitch: yo put hook in next dc space yo pull through as if to do dc, yo pull through 2 loops leaving 2 loops on hook yo and repeat until you have 6 loops on the hook, yo and pull through all 6 loops then hdc in next dc to secure cluster stitch hdc 2 more times (3 hdc) repeat cluster then end with 3 hdc.
Row 4-5: ch 2 dc across (11 dc)
Row 6: repeat cluster row
Row 7: ch 2 dc across (11 dc)
Row 8: ch 1 sc across (11 sc) fasten off weave in ends.

And repeat this until desired length or width whichever your preference to have the Building blocks lay out.

Now to get all complicated and stuff. Building to the side of the block.

Attach yarn with sl st at bottom corner of the wide enough or long enough strip of Building Blocks just made.
Row 1: ch 12 turn sc in 2nd ch from hook and sc across (11 sc) sl st in ch on block from first column of Building blocks
Row 2: ch 2 sl st top of ch on block from first column of Building blocks, dc in 1st sc space and dc across (11 dc)
Row 3: ch 2 hdc in 1st dc and next 2 dc (3 hdc) cluster stitch: yo put hook in next dc space yo pull through as if to do dc, yo pull through 2 loops leaving 2 loops on hook yo and repeat until you have 6 loops on the hook, yo and pull through all 6 loops then hdc in next dc to secure cluster stitch hdc 2 more times (3 hdc) repeat cluster then end with 3 hdc. sl st in ch on block from first column of Building Blocks
Row 4-5: ch 2 sl st in ch on block from first column of Building blocks dc across (11 dc)
Row 6: repeat cluster row sl st in ch on block from first column of Building Blocks
Row 7: ch 2 sl st in ch on block from first column of Building Blocks dc across (11 dc)
Row 8: ch 1 sc across sl st in ch on block from first column of Building blocks (11 sc) fasten off weave in ends.

Build up column in same fashion as the previous column only sl st in ch on block from first column of Building blocks as you go along. Build it as wide and tall as you need. And good luck!

Free Building Block No Sew Crochet Blanket Pattern (alteration to previous pattern instead of working left or right we will be building up in length not width unless you want the Building Blocks to be long ways going up which would still be cool your blanket your way of doing it to make it look how you want it to :-) have fun! Close up of the worked together Building Blocks so you can see how it don't look too bad doing it this way

Closer close up of worked together Building blocks hope you see it well

Showing the four blocks I did so far they were shown how in my YouTube but it cut off the first part of the video...my laptop is probably down for the count...but still trying to scan it...but those instructional videos are deleted from my phone to make room for my sons birthday party pictures and videos...so I will re do it later when I have time and a laptop to get my videos off my phone so I can upload them to youtube to help you visualize this method better. The sped up version you see the first of the video but it cuts it off at the end...the end is on the slowed down video I will go through the video and time stamp all the steps so you can skip to key points on how to do things just need a laptop to be able to do that sorry...hopefully soon. Anyways hope the pictures in the mean time help my videos can be found on my channel http://www.youtube.com/rabekajo
Hope the link works if not I will have to fix it on my computer later dang this sucks not having a computer :-( ttyl

Here is the finished Building block blanket: :-)

Hope you can see it well. It's on a twin bed to give you an idea how big this many blocks is compared to a twin bed. Have fun with designs and the lay out make it yours...my next one will be a baby blanket for my baby to be about 3'x3' probably be more rectangle though but we shall see...may end up doing a 2 bump by 2 bump and make it square more lol...anyway I will update with pictures when I get it done...next is black bomb bird from angry birds hat for my son...then a camo sweater for my son so far that's the game plan for projects...baby won't be here until April...anyway got some time...ttyl!

Sorry I forgot to update with pics of the Building block blanket

Sorry I forgot to update this blog with the finished product (finished Dec. 14, 2012) and please don't mind my son's messy room lol and cluttered bed he insists on sleeping with all his pillows and blankets and stuffed animals and I think somewhere under there is actually a living breathing dog...but OK anyways here is the finished blanket...I plan on making one for my niece but trying to talk her out of mixing the colors she wants together but I guess purple does go with rainbow colors...IDK anyways probably will be the same size as this...and this is a twin sized bed...its a little smaller than the bed but that's OK...my son loves it and so do I...anyways I got some feedback on my pattern...I may edit it someday just not any time soon...I am always open to suggestions too...because I don't exactly know what I am doing when writing patterns I just write it as I think patterns should be written because I usually get confused with regular patterns...so I usually try and sit down and write it all out in English lol and then work it on my own...anyways ttyl enjoy sorry for the blurry one at the bottom I didn't think it turned out well and it didn't but there its laid out flat on my king sized bed you can't see the whole bed in it though so that doesn't matter huh? lol sorry I am tired...
Happy Hooking everyone!
Sincerely,
Rabeka Jo
ps. new readers read the previous blog for the pattern of this no sew Building block afghan altered by me original done by the link you have to copy and paste into your web browser because I don't know how to make it hyper linked yet lol sorry bout that

Building Block blanket I'm working on

I'm making a Building Block blanket I cut out the green border and lost first row of sc but I rescued it and you can't tell at least so I'm told...I'm a perfectionist so it's hard to not see it for me...but I will post a picture of it soon just right now am having to finish the row I'm working on first which maybe tonight I just don't know because I really need to go to sleep soon...anyways just thought I would share....I got the free pattern off YouTube but altered it because after I got two of each color I totally got overwhelmed with the thought of having to see them all together...so I figured up a way to just join each color and build the blocks together as I go along and I think it's turning out nice...the green solid strip ended up needing to go because as you can see it was rippling and looked wrong so I cut it out...big mistake but like I said I think I figured how to fix it...I plan to show my method of the blanket on YouTube soon...just trying to figure things out as I go with this blanket before I get people on board with my method...
I been trying to figure out how to make an afghan with 100 hearts one being blue and larger than the 99 red ones to represent 1 of 100 births effected by congenital heart defects...if anyone has suggestions pleas do comment and let me know as I'm really having trouble trying to figure it out in my head...I plan to make a bunch of them and sell them on eBay and take the money and pay for the yarn then donate the rest to its my heart or mend Maddies heart or children's heart foundation or association I forget which it is...or all of them depending on how much I can raise on them...they all are great foundations that help chd families and research...anyways just a thought to ponder...your welcome to join me in making such blankets just be sure to send me the pattern so I can help too...anyways....
Thanks for stopping by sorry I've been so wrapped up with depression all this time and failed to continue my creativity which I have thoroughly missed greatly and forgot how therapeutic it can be...hope to continue...my next project will be this same blanket only different colors more like the colors found in Building Blocks with Harry Potter series colors...anyways wish me luck and with that one I hope to record it and put it on YouTube as a how to video so I can share how it's made so be sure to subscribe to my YouTube http://www.youtube.com/user/rabekajo ttyl all
God bless
Sincerely,
Rabeka Jo D
